    Description

    Windy Meadows Pottery House
    ~ THE APOTHECARY ~
    Limited Edition
    #45 of 50
    Jan Richardson & R.A.W.
    Hard to find piece.
This wonderful house is in excellent, previously displayed condition. This house is the
    45's one
made. (Check out the note under the roof) It has never been used with a candle. Please check out all of the pictures for full details.
The spires/points on roof have gotten broke off over the years. 2 are glued back on and one is missing.
THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE GLUED ON SPIRES MAY COME OF DURING SHIPPING. I WRAP THAT AREA EXTRA WELL.
It was made in 1986 in Knoxville, Md.
    Size: 11" H (top of middle spire)x 5.5" W x 7" D
The Apothecary was made between 1978 -1988 only 50 made and sold for 5
She originally sold her houses at Craft fairs around the Frederick and Hagerstown, Md area.
Jan Richardson, the founder, artist and designer of the Windy Meadows Pottery clay houses. All of the housed are built from the ground up using slab stoneware. Based on her own formula, Jan developed a color process using natural and colored stoneware and porcelain clay to produce the special "warmth", a trademark of Jan's cottages and candle houses. The fine detailing is unique to a Windy Meadows Pottery cottage in that each shingle, vine, flower or lattice is applied individually. Jan's private collection candle houses are quite elaborate with as many as 600 individual pieces applied by hand. All of the Windy Meadows Pottery collections are individually hand-constructed…molds are never used! EACH PIECE IN A SERIES IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE NEXT.
If there is an X over the name of house under the roof, it means the Miss Jan found a flaw with the piece. Some times the flaws is only something she sees and sometimes something noticeable. It is still part of the limited number, not a cast off. It was just not perfect in her eyes.
